Are floral curtains still in style?

Florals do not go in or out — they cycle, and right now the cycle is up. The floral is one of the oldest furnishing prints there is, which is exactly why it never fully leaves: it moves between eras rather than expiring. The current turn favours it, on the back of the grandmillennial and cottagecore looks and a broader move away from flat, grey minimalism toward pattern and warmth.

What changes is the kind of floral in fashion, and two are running at once: vintage floral curtains — chintz, faded roses, a lived-in library feel — and the modern take, larger blooms drawn loose and painterly in a tighter palette. A floral you choose for the flower rather than the fashion outlasts both, because it was never trying to be current in the first place.

What are the different types of floral curtains?

Sort them by scale first, then by mood — the scale is what decides whether it works on your window.

• Large-scale blooms. One or two big flowers across the panel. Reads as art on a tall or wide window; overwhelms a small one, where a big repeat turns into visual clutter.
• Ditsy and small repeats. Tight, scattered flowers. Reads as texture from across the room and as detail up close — the safe choice for a small window or a busy room.
• Vintage and chintz. Dense, traditional, often on a darker ground. Warm and enveloping; the grandmillennial staple.
• Modern and watercolour. Looser drawing, more negative space, a restrained palette. The one that reads contemporary rather than nostalgic.

One honest line on fabric: we do not make sheer florals. If you pictured a light, unlined floral voile filtering the sun, that is not us — every panel here is a lined, floor-weight drape. Buy the sheer elsewhere and layer it in front if that is the look you want.

How do I choose a floral print for my room?

Match the scale to the space, let the flower pull one colour off something already in the room, and keep it the only loud thing. A floral panel is a feature, so it wants a quiet setting — a plain wall, a plain sofa — and it does the work on its own. Put a big floral against papered walls and a patterned sofa and everything shouts at once.

The colour is the useful part. A floral carries several colours at once, so you do not have to match it to anything — you pick the panel whose secondary colour echoes something already there, a cushion or a rug, and the room reads as considered rather than coordinated. That is the thing a plain panel cannot do: it pulls a second colour in without repainting a wall.

One detail people find late: fullness changes a print. A panel gathered at twice the rod width folds the flowers into themselves, so a bold bloom softens and a fine repeat can disappear. If the print is the reason you are buying, hang it flatter.

What colours do floral curtains come in?

Can floral curtains block light too?

Yes — and the print does not pay for it. Pattern and light control are separate decisions here. Every panel is lined as standard and blocks up to 70% of incoming light, which is the band most brands sell as room darkening: dim and private, with a soft edge of daylight at the window.

If you want a floral blackout curtain — full darkness plus thermal insulation — take the optional blackout lining. It sits behind the printed face, so choosing it does not mute the flowers or flatten the colour from inside the room. You are not trading the pattern for the darkness; you get the bloom in daylight and a properly dark room at night.

Do floral curtains come in my size?

There is no length list to come in — every panel is 53 inches wide and cut to the drop you enter. The print lands where you need it, rather than on a packaged 84-inch drop that nearly fits and loses part of the flower at a hemmed-up bottom. A wider window takes more panels rather than a wider panel.

Measuring is the same for a floral as for any panel, and it is covered in full on each room collection: the short version is to measure the rod rather than the window, multiply by 1.5–2× for fullness, then divide by 53 and round up to get your panel count. Hang it high and a touch wide, and remember to hang a print flatter than you would a plain panel so the flowers are not folded away — with a fixed panel width, that means one panel fewer rather than a narrower one.
