What are boho style curtains?

Boho — short for bohemian, the same word, no difference — is an eclectic, layered look built on earthy colour and handmade-feeling pattern. Where a modern scheme matches and subtracts, boho collects and layers: warm neutrals and spice tones, global and folk motifs, natural texture, and the sense that nothing in the room arrived on the same day.

A curtain carries that look in two ways — the print and the drape — and that is the part we make. Our panels are lined, floor-weight drapes in prints we draw ourselves: geometric, folk and botanical repeats in a boho palette. What we do not make is the craft-trim side of boho — the macramé, the fringe, the tassels. If you searched for boho curtains with tassels, those are a trim you add to a panel, and nothing like that ships with ours.

What are the different styles of boho curtains?

The look splits three ways, and we make one of the three.

• Printed boho panels — earthy, folk and geometric repeats on woven cloth. This is us: a proper lined drape that carries the pattern.
• Macramé and woven-lace panels — knotted or crocheted open-work, often unlined, made for filtering light rather than blocking it. Beautiful, and not something we make — no macramé or lace here.
• Tassel and fringe trims — a decorative edge added to a plain or printed panel. A finishing touch you buy separately; ours ship as clean panels.

Saying that plainly is the honest version of the collection. If the knotted, open-weave macramé curtain is the picture in your head, buy that elsewhere. If you want the boho print on a panel that actually darkens a room and hangs with weight, that is exactly what this is.

What colours do boho curtains come in?

The boho palette is warm and grounded, and the collection runs across it — cream and white for the airy, Scandi-boho end, terracotta and rust and mustard for the spice tones, greens for the plant-filled look, and blue or black grounds for something with more contrast. Rather than list every colourway here, use the colour filter on the grid above: it is faster, and each print is shown in the colours we actually make it in.

Because we draw the prints ourselves, a colour is a design choice rather than whatever a supplier stocked — which is also why you will not find these exact prints on five other stores. Whether you call them boho curtains, boho-chic curtains or vintage boho curtains, it is the same collection.

Can boho curtains be blackout?

Yes — and this is where a printed panel beats an open-weave one. A macramé or lace boho curtain cannot darken a room; the open work is the whole point of it. A printed boho panel can, because the lining sits behind the print.

Every panel we make is lined as standard and blocks up to 70% of incoming light, the band most brands sell as room darkening. For a boho blackout curtain — full darkness plus thermal insulation — take the optional blackout lining. It sits behind the printed face, so choosing it does not mute the pattern or flatten the colour from inside the room.

What length should boho curtains be?

Long, and a little relaxed rather than crisp. The boho look leans casual, so floor-length is the floor, not the ceiling: hang to just brush the floor, or let the hem puddle 3–6 inches on purpose for the softer, lived-in finish the style is known for. A short panel that stops at the sill is the one length that reads wrong here.

Because every panel is cut to the drop you enter, the puddle is a number you choose rather than an accident of a ready-made length. Detailed measuring is covered on each room collection — the short version is to measure the rod rather than the window, multiply by 1.5–2× for fullness, then divide by 53 and round up, since every panel is 53 inches wide.

Lined as standard and cut to the floor — which is why you will see the same boho drapes and curtains sold under either name in other stores. The trade reserves drapes for lined, floor-length panels; by that definition these are drapes, though most shoppers say curtains, so we do too.

Are boho curtains still in style?

The move away from flat, grey minimalism toward warmth, texture and pattern is the same move that keeps boho current: it is the opposite of matched-and-subtracted. A boho panel chosen for the print rather than the season outlasts the trend, because the look was never about being new.
